Q: Need help can I apply for bankruptcy if I'm on disability?
I have under 10,000 in debt and want to apply for for bankruptcy but I am on disability, creditors are calling can't do payment please give advise!
A:
The fact that you are on disability would not prevent you from filing bankruptcy. You do need to see a bankruptcy lawyer to review your assets and see if you have any property that a bankruptcy trustee might take from you. It is also a small amount of debt to file bankruptcy on so a lawyer may be able to advise other ways to deal with this and avoid bankruptcy altogether.
You can also change your phone number if the calls are bothering you. Look on Justia and find a bankruptcy lawyer near you and see if they can help. Hope it works out. Good luck!

A: If your income is disability insurance you should meet the income requirements for filing bankruptcy. You should contact a local bankruptcy attorney to discuss your options and let them know any and all income you are receiving. Bankruptcy is an option if your assets can be protected. As stated above you can change your number or block the callers. Good luck!
