Q: My husbands cousin doesn't want her baby when she is born and wants me and my husband to take her. Can she sign her ove

Can she sign her over the day she's born and give her our last name without us having to get a lawyer and go to court? She has 3 other children that got taken away and family adopted them. We want to adopt the baby without court and dhs. How can we go about it?

A: She can let you take the baby when they are discharged from the Hospital. You MUST file for legal adoption ASAP. The father has rights to the child which must be dealt with.
