Mableton, GA asked in Divorce, Family Law, Child Custody and Juvenile Law for Georgia

Q: Can my dad get a restraining order on my boyfriend?

I'm 15 years old and my boyfriend is 18 years old. He's has done nothing to hurt me or hasn't done anything sexual towards me. I told him I want and we need to wait till I'm 18 and he's okay with it. My parents are divorced and my mom has full custody of me. My mom gave my boyfriends mom a slip of her signing saying I'm allowed to date him. My dad is all the way in Texas I'm in georgia. He just wants to get a restraining order on him to keep him away from me. Can he do that if my boyfriend hasn't done anything wrong? I'm turning 16 in a few months and he will be 19 will I be able to see and date him then without my dad being involved?

A: Your parents have the right to determine what is best for you. If they object to you seeing an adult while you are still a child, then you need to listen to them.
