Titusville, FL asked in Contracts and Probate for Florida

Q: make changes to a funeral contract that a former POA made without contacting or asking family.

my fathers ex girlfriend who at the time was his poa made a burial contract without family knowing and over spent on services he wont need. his wishes is not to have a service and only wants to be cremated and his ashes to be thrown out in the sea. though I have been his poa for the past 2 years her name is on the contract that she sent me and shes really nasty to me since I called her out on missing funds a home and new car that vanished but that's another story. at the time they both lived in hillsboro fl so she went to a local funeral home and did the arrangements there. but he now lives 4 hours away in Titusville florida . be nice to get a refund and find a local funeral home here in Titusville. or just be able to make the correct changes and have his remaining monies returned to him. UPDATE TURNS OUT THE OLD POA SIGNED A IRREVOCABLE REFUND AGREEMENT THAT ANY LEFT OVER MONEY WOULD GO TO HEALTHCARE SO HE CANT GET HIS MONEY BACK.

A: Your Father, or you as the current POA should be able to make changes to the funeral contract and should be able to remove her name. I suggest you start by speaking with the funeral home that made the contract, explain the changes that your dad wants and then provide them the information that they request. If the refuse to speak with you after you provide them with your current POA, then it is time to get a lawyer to assist you.
