Q: I was in an accident going the wrong way on a one way but it was the other persons fault and my ticket was later amended

I was in an accident going the wrong way on a one way but it was the other persons fault and my ticket was later amended to a no seat belt ticket how do I get the police report changed to reflect that.

A: The police report only reports what happened.

It does not place blame.

It does say who was ticketed and for what.

A: The police determine which is the "striking" vehicle but they CANNOT assign fault. If you were going the wrong way on a one-way street, you are at least 50% at fault and it would be a miracle if you got anyone else to pay.

A: Police reports do not get amended. You may want to pull a certified copy of the Court disposition to show proof that the ticket was amended.

A: they never get changed. If you weren't at fault, or don't think you were, why not contact a member of the Ill. Trial Lawyers Assn for the county where it happened--they give free consults.
