Do they have the rt to keep our car .we took it in to be fixed for recall .the shop were we was told to take it looked at it and said 1 to 2 hrs it be ready never once said it would be extra or contact us telling us that we are going to be charged extra .now there refusing to give back the car till bill is paid .any help would be great location Knoxville Tennessee united States
A: There sounds like there may be more to this. If you took a car in for "recall" work to a dealership authorized to do a noticed recall the notice you received should outline the terms of the recall. Generally this would be without charge. From what you are describing the dealership is claiming they did some work beyond the recall and are trying to charge for this. If the dealership performed work not subject to the recalll without your permission you shouldn't owe for it. But again, without knowing more it would be hard to give you a complete response.
