Q: co-administer an estate?

Co administer an estate ?

My dad died with no will. It is only my sister and I we both live out of state.(The estate - simple , house /land . No debts.)We aren't on speaking terms. We both hired attorneys. I filed for Administrator of the estate first and was granted the position 3 weeks ago. Before we sent the waiver to my sister , her att. contacted mine and asked for co-administration . That's acceptable to me. But my att. and I have had a disagreement. He was hostile ,hasn't send me the new retainer, which I want to replenish (at this point the balance is zero) And said I should retain other counsel immediately.. At this point I have no idea if he , sent the waiver, told the other att I'll co-admin, stopped working on my case ,etc. Can he just stop? Should I contact my sisters att. and tell him personally that I'm fine with co-administrating? I tried contacting MY att. no response . I dont mind co-admin. I'm afraid time will run out and she'll be sole administrator. thanku

A: Sounds like you need another attorney to call your sister's lawyer. Please call my office and we can see what we can do.

A: Your attorneys reaction is very weird. Something else is going on. Co-administration is encouraged by the court, so that is the right result. It is easy to work out. Not sure why you are having these issues.
