Q: I got a speeding ticket and I need to pay it but things aren't adding up.
1. Got a speeding ticket on 9/25/2017. 2. Court date was set for 10/10/2017, but there's a box that was checked by the officer that says I don't have to attend court, that I can just pay it online or over the phone. 3. They only filed my ticket online to where I could see it on 10/4/2017. 4. It does not have an option for me to pay it online, although the officer said I could. 5. It does not even have a cost or fine or anything, but it does still have the court date. 6. Since they did only file it on 10/4/2017 this only gave me 3 days to pay for it over the phone. That would be 10/4, 10/5, and 10/6 because they are closed on weekends and holidays. 7. Not really sure what I should do because that court is 2 1/2 hours away yet I haven't paid the speeding ticket and I don't want something to happen and I get into even more trouble for not going to court even though it was checked off on my ticket that I don't have to go.
A: You should be able to contact the court in the morning and ask for a continuance. Call my office and I can appear for you or contact the court for a continuance, 703-352-9044.
