A: If she has a claim to ownership, then she can sue for ownership and possession. But it sounds like you have a good defense to your own ownership and possession.

A: It depends on a lot of factors. Were you married or just dating/ girlfriend and boyfriend? Did you acquire them before the relationship or during? Did you both care for and pay for their needs? If you were married, this will be sorted out in the divorce. If you were not married, she can claim co-owership and request the court partition the property, i.e. extinguish one or the other of your ownership interest in one or both of the animals and award the other party money damages to buy out their interest.
