Q: If my parents bought me a bedroom suite as a gift is it legally mine?
My parents bought me a bedroom suite for my birthday about 7 years ago. I was going to get it from their house (where I haven't used it for 1 year) and just wanted to know if I could legally take it.
A:
I suspect not, but there is clearly more information needed to answer this accurately, and there are clearly more things involved than you have shared in this question. There is apparently some issue with your relationship with your parents since if it was clearly your property, you could simply ask them for it and they would let you have it.
You did not take it with you at the time you moved out, so that undermines your claim that it was your property.
it could be just equally true that they bought the furniture for your USE, but never intended for you to take it from their home whenever you want to. Minors ( you don't say how old you are) generally don't own property, but it is possible. I do not think any lawyer can answer this question without a great deal more information.
