Q: Hi, when it comes to making t-shirts and related products with words, how does that work for copyright/trademark?
There are tons of people online selling popular phrases on printables, mugs, etc. -- things like "Dream big" and "Hello" and "Travel is good for the soul." Can you trademark words/phrases in a fancy font? Are simple ones like that in the public domain and free game? Or can you only trademark things with artwork? There's something I made that has no competition and I want to mark it as mine before others copy me. Hoping to get some answers... thanks
A: You can trademark words in specific color or shape. However the words should be trademarkable first.
