Plainfield, NJ asked in Traffic Tickets for New Jersey

Q: On NJ highway, received a warning for cellphone usage(39 4 97.3). Does this count as one of offense for cellphone?

I was driving on nj highway. State trooper pulled me over. He gave me a ticket for careless driving(39 4 97) but he also gave me a warning for cellphone usage( 39 4 97.3).

Since both are on a same slip, I'm a but confused. I have no problem with pleading and paying for the cellphone ticket. But for this warning for cellphone, does this actually count towards as one of the cellphone offense? I have already gotten two other within past 10 years. The officer did verbally say that it is a warning. Also, When I called the municipal court, they only seem to have information for my careless driving ticket and nothing on the cellphone warning.. Is there anything I need to do about the cellphone warning?( such as court appearance, or online acknowledgement?)

A: Without seeing the ticket I cannot give you direct advise, however, it would sound like you just got a warning, thus it won't count as another cell phone ticket. That being said you may want to fight the careless driving ticket as it has 2 point on it, thus not a great ticket to get either.
