Somerset, NJ asked in Traffic Tickets for New Jersey

Q: 39:4-92.2B -- "Reduce Speed of Motor Vehicle to reasonable/Proper" I'd like to challenge this as I believe I slowed down

The police officer has his lights on, on the side of the road, he was outside his car, I was on the clock in my company car and I slowed down and pulled over to the left to yield to them, but he felt I did not and wrote me a ticket. Is this a serious ticket and how can I fight it? I was thinking my defense could be that he did not clock my speed, nor pace me with a car, therefore no proof of what speed was reduced? Also from his angle he the way the human eyes work, theres a science behind it where he could have misconceived it and as a Pre-Med student I'm willing to bring in a diagram of how this may be the case. Just a broke college kid not trying to have insurance skyrocket!

A: Unless it is marked as a mandatory court appearance it's not a bad ticket. Sure your insurance may go up but hiring a lawyer may not be worth it value wise unless you have lots of points on your record. As for your defense maybe?
