A: The law in Virginia is that once the child turns 18 and has graduated high school, there is no more obligation to pay child support or share any expenses for children, unless they are disabled and were disabled prior to becoming 18. If you have a written Agreement with your ex-husband that states otherwise, then there may be an obligation on your ex's part.

A: Child support ends at age 18. However, "The court shall also order that support will continue to be paid for any child over the age of 18 who is (i) a full-time high school student, (ii) not self-supporting, and (iii) living in the home of the party seeking or receiving child support until such child reaches the age of 19 or graduates from high school, whichever first occurs." Va. Code § 20-124.2(C).

If you and the father have a written agreement that provides otherwise, then the agreement controls.Without an agreement, it looks like child support has ended.
