Q: An online website gave me wrong author/cited work to use, which I found out. CA I sue them for selling wrong information?
I had ordered a college essay from an online website. When it was emailed to me.I checked for the references that the writer had used.He had put wrong authors name. Before ordering I had called their cust service and was told how high standards they use - review/ quality check before sending to client.
PS - this was my college admission essay. Had i not cross checked it would have costed me my admission. I wrote to the writer who had written my essay asking him explanation - he did admit that he had used the wrong author's name. When I contacted cust service they are not even refunding my full amount I paid for service. I am so pissed off at their lack of acknowledgement. I have so less time being a working prof and a full time parent. The first place I hired these people to write for me to save time where I can. What are my chances if I sue this company? Thank you
A:
So you want to sue because you wanted to submit someone else's work as yours to a college--this is called plagiarism--and you don't think the author of the work did a good job. First, if the citation was proper but someone made an error in the author's name it's a tad sloppy but it happens and I wouldn't see a case built on that assuming the work and pages cited were appropriate and relevant.
But no court is likely to want you to reap a benefit because the tool of an (academic crime) you were given was faulty.
