Q: Reckless speed ticket, what to do? Please, advice!
I took my daughter to her ped in Arlington and they have 2 offices locations.I always go to the one near by my house, and the office that I went today it`s in an area that I`m not familiar with.So when I was leaving the building with my daughter, I turned right and went into an avenue that apparently the speed limit is 25mph.Few seconds after I got pulled over and the officer said that I was 45mph and gave me a ticket(reckless by speed).I honestly didn`t see any speed limit sign but I understand that the fact is that I was over the speed limit and I got a ticket. The issue is that I need to go to court on 12/14 and on that day,I`m moving back to my country.I have a great driving licence history, never had a speed ticket and I`m also struggling financially,so this ticket came in a very bad timing.Based on that, what should I do?I definitely can`t go to court on the 14th and won`t be in the US after that date.If I`m able to anticipate the court date,do I have chance to reduce the fine?
A: You should absolutely schedule a consultation with a traffic lawyer in your local area to discuss your case. Reckless driving is a serious ticket. A lawyer may be able to work with the Commonwealth to reduce the charge.
