Q: Every time I bring up child support to my ex he threatens to take full custody, can he get full custody if he owes?

A: We as attorneys need more information and background details of the case to better tell you an answer to this question. However, most likely the custody will be granted to the parent the kids reside with and the other parent will get visitation or both will share. If he owes than most-likely you can use that against him in court for failing to take up his responsibilities. If a support order is already in place you should get a contempt of court and get the court to get him to pay up the amount he ow. He will most likely stop threatening you about the full custody if he sees that you have a competent and aggressive lawyer on your back.
