A: The amount of child support you pay could go down. However, that doesn't happen automatically and you would need to file a motion to modify child support with the court. Whether the child support will go down depends on an array of factors, income for both of you being the most important. Keep in mind that for child support to be modifiable, the monthly amount must go down by 10%.
