Mission, KS asked in Civil Rights and Family Law for Kansas

Q: We have 3-month old twins and are being denied a spacious one bedroom apartment. I feel like we were discriminated..

So, pertaining to the housing laws here in Kansas, so long as the child is under 2 years old, then it is allowed that the family have a one-bedroom home/apartment since the baby will most probably still be sleeping in the parent's bedroom. How is that any different from 3-month old twins? We don't, in any way, plan that they sleep in a separate bedroom since they are only babies and we were denied even being shown the one-bedroom apartment. According to the Fair Housing Act, discriminating based on familial status is against the law and that is what it felt like... we aren't sure how to approach this situation.
