Bradenton, FL asked in Car Accidents for Florida

Q: What happens if a witness calls in a car accident and both cars leave the scene?

Someone slammed on their breaks in front of me and I hit him. The truck involved turned left and just kept driving, they didn't care at all. I noticed that the van behind me turned left and pulled over.

There is damage to my car and even though it was night time, I was obviously very close to the truck and saw no damage whatsoever.

If this van for some reason did call it in, and neither the truck nor myself stopped, what's likely to happen?

A: Unless they got your plate, nothing. Maybe they decided to call mom--not necessarily about you. As no damage to someone else and they left I don't see a duty. If contacted by cops call an attorney before giving a statement as leaving the scene can be a big deal in many states.
