Palm Harbor, FL asked in Car Accidents for Florida

Q: I'm wrong in a accident but they did not called me, what do I do?

I had an accident inside a parking lot in a shop. I was backing up and I hit a car behind me. this was my first accident and I did not know how to react. I got out of the car and gave my information to the lady but I did not ask for her information and I was sure she would call me. she told me that she would call me, but I went 24 hours and I still have no news. I recognize that I have committed so many mistakes and for this I would like to throw my head against the wall, but now I would like to understand what can happen to me. I did not call the police, I did not take pictures of the cars, I do not have the other person's information. I already contacted the insurance to repair my car. if assuming the best of cases, and the lady does not call me. can I repair my car and finish it like this? Should I call the police even if I'm late?

A: Don't worry about it; she will contact you or your insurance company when and if she wants to make a claim. Normally, calling the police is not necessary unless the accident occurred on a public right of way. It appears that is not the case.
