Q: Someone called my mom saying my car was in an accident and if I didn't call she had to go to court.
My mother isn't on any of my paperwork in regards to my car in any form. But someone called and left her a voice mail saying if they didn't get in touch with me then my mother had to go to court. I can't find anything about this True R&I online and all I have is a phone number. She's freaked out and I'm concerned because I haven't been in any accident. And if they got her number why wouldn't they get mine and call me directly? Please just some help were all a little freaked out by this.
Thanks in advance!

Sounds like a phishing expedition. If it's your car why would they call her? Did they ask her for her or your social security number or date of birth? Did they ask for her maiden name?
I'd call the number on an evening or weekend from a cell phone, the message may identify the company.
If you get an individual, just listen, ask questions, give no information--who are they, where are they--if you hear phones in the background it means a "boilder room" --a bunch of people making calls trying to scare up money. Note date and time, report it to whatever authority they claimed as the entity they were acting for. Give that information to the real entity.
