Q: Am I responsible for court fees as minor? (Continued) thanks mr. Coleman
It was a juvenile court case. I know for a fact that once a child has legally become an adult the court fees/costs are transferred to that individual. What exactly will happen when I show up on that court date? Jail time for not paying court fees even though that's not legally possible as minor?
A: The transfer of the liability for the fees is something with which I am not familiar. I don't know what role you played in the case. If you were represented by a next friend because you were a minor, you may be liable for the fees now that you are an adult. If you are still a minor represented by a next friend you probably aren't. If this is a delinquency matter you must pay the fees to the court. If you are set for a hearing, show up and tell the judge what the situation is.
