Voorhees, NJ asked in Car Accidents for New Jersey

Q: Is a hit and run possible during a police chase?

My car was hit while parked. While inspecting, state police approached me and said it was the result of a chase (in a residential neighborhood), but have no info on the car or person who they were after. They called off the local police in order to file the report themselves. I think they are either totally responsible and lying about it or they are partially responsible for not calling off the chase when it was endangering the public. Is it worth pursuing, and is there even a way to ever find out the truth? Damage is less than deductible so I'm paying out of pocket and there is no insurance involvement at all.

A: The police can chase anyone they feel it is in the public interest to do so, probably also not worth pursing if you have a low deductible as your time is probably worth more.
