Newark, NJ asked in Car Accidents for New Jersey

Q: I really need help in this hour! I had met with a very minor accident exactly 2 years ago.

I really need help in this hour! I had met with a very minor accident exactly 2 years ago. Today i received a certified summon for the same. In that claim, the person has sued me for $25,000 or more. The accident was very minor , there was no police complaint, i had just got 2 point on my license. Now in thus situation, who will help me my insurance at that time or should i appoint an attorney.

Also, I recieved the letter today, but the summon is dated Dec 11. In it its mentioned that, we have 28 days to respond. Does that mean 28 business days or calendar days?

A: First of all, please relax. Take the summons and complaint and turn it over to the insurance company you had at the time of the accident. This is normal do not worry this is a person looking to make money from a minor car accident. As long as you have insurance in place at the time of the accident you will be covered. Just relax
