Q: I’m 17 and got preg. But the baby comes I’ll be 18. My boyfriend Is 20 Can the nurses file a report. Any trouble ?

He will be 20 once the baby is born and I’ll be 18. I just want to know if he can get in any legal trouble.

A: Sexual intercourse with a minor, which you are, is called statutory rape, because you are under the age of consent. Until you are 18 years of age you are a minor. Therefore, the person who got you pregnant could be charged with statutory rape. The child will be prima facie evidence of the crime even if born after you turn 18. Whether nurses in obstetrics/ gynecology wards or doctor's offices report such matters is an open question. I would think that you can locate a doctor who will maintain your confidence and not make such a report. Or you simply don't have to tell the doctor anything about the father. You should definitely discuss this with your parents before you do anything.
