Q: Can a landlord raise rent because of hurricane expenses?
We just received a notice from our landlord that because of expenses he accumulated during Hurricane Irma that he is raising our rent $100. We have a lease we signed for a year with our rent being due on the 15th of the month but he is saying we are a week to week lease. Not a month to month and rent is due on the first of the month.
