A: In Colorado, child support is payable until age 19. However, child support can be terminated by court order if the child is emancipated before then. Living on his own and supporting himself are signs of emancipation. It is up to the court to decide if he is emancipated.

A: Support stops at 19, not 18. If it can be proven that child is on his own and self sufficient you may be able to modify or terminate child support. Nothing is automatic and you will need to take action with the court. You should consider seekign the help of a child support attorney.
