Q: I was caught taking $973 worth of money from my job over a period of several months. Taking to detective tomorrow

A: You have already given away any chance you might have had to defend so I would not advise talking with the private detective. You should retain a lawyer immediately to possibly avoid prosecution. Good luck.

A: You need to immediately hire a good theft lawyer. You are looking at up to 5 years in jail if charged. You need to find anyway to negotiate your way out of this before charges are filed. At this point it is probably not possible and thus your best bet is to remain silent and let your lawyer handle it for you to try to get the charges reduced or downgraded once they are filed. Remember a good lawyer is generally never cheap and a cheap lawyer is generally never good so choose wisely.
