A: Thank you for your question. I am happy to assist.

I understand your concern as it relates to marital finances as part of a divorce. The basic answer to your question is, yes, there are services that do assist indigent individuals for litigation,. However, many times you need to qualify for same. Given that your Husband has an income and has supported the family you may not qualify for those services. Generally, as part of a divorce, the payment of counsel fees is something that needs to be addressed where one party is in a superior financial position. In many cases, the earning party may be responsible for the payment of the other party’s counsel fees. This is done on the premise that both individuals have a right to counsel. It would be best to contact an experienced family law attorney to address your specific concerns.

I hope this information was helpful to you.
