Dallas, TX asked in Traffic Tickets for Texas

Q: Can I renew a license with any tickets that were unpaid?

I have a ticket that was issued to me on 11/28/17 my license expired and they said I couldn't get it renewed until the ticket was paid. Got ticket paid now they're giving me the "failure to appear in court" ticket when it was issued also 11/28/17. I already paid everything to get my license renewed on 12/22/17. I'm confused on why they're issuing me this still saying it's not been paid when I clearly can't get my license without having my tickets paid.

A: This is likely a question for DPS, but a failure to appear ticket might place a hold on your license. Your best bet is to speak with a traffic ticket attorney about clearing the hold and renewing your license. You may be eligible for an Occupational Driver's License as well, and that is another issue to discuss with an attorney in consultation.
