Indio, CA asked in Traffic Tickets for California

Q: I failed to appear in court for a traffic violation, what should I do?

I received a traffic ticket for changing into the carpool lane, it was clear as I started to get over and half way over the line started to turn solid, so instead of jerking the car the other way I finished getting over. I was under the impression that I was going to receive something in the mail to pay for the ticket and if I did not agree with the ticket I could appear in court to the court date on the ticket. I never received anything in the mail, I looked up my citation number and nothing appeared, and now I just received a letter for failure to appear in court with bail set at $1000 and $300 to reinstate my license with the DMV. I set a court date to see the Judge Tuesday.

A: i need more facts.

however if you are given a citation it has a date to appear and if you do not appear a bench warrant issues.

you or a lawyer has to appear to ask the court to quash the BW and provide a good reason why that should happen.
