Woodbridge, VA asked in Medical Malpractice for Virginia

Q: I am applying for medical malpractice insurance. What qualifies as "mental impairment"?

The question is: "Have you ever been diagnosed with, or treated for, alcoholism, drug addiction, or mental or physical impairment

or anger management? " and if you answer yes, the subsequent question is "Explain and provide dates and locations of all treatment or evaluations as well as names of your supervising and/or monitoring physicians. *" Does the follow up question mean inpatient or outpatient? Do I need to contact a lawyer, or the malpractice insurer for clarification?

A: Depends on the issue. Ask the insurer for the definitions.

The follow up seems to mean any treatment during the impairment period--who were the providers, who was the treating physician or clinician.
