Q: Dog catcher trying to give me a dog bite ticket do I have to take it

A: You are not really giving much information. If you do not take the summons, they may be able to issue an arrest warrant, it really depends on the jurisdiction and the severity of the bite. I would contact an attorney with a lot of experience in Colorado with such matters, such as myself.

A: If you fail to take it, they can charge you with interference with a law enforcement officer, which is a misdemeanor and, obviously, another charge you will have to fight. I had a client who attempted to avoid a dog related citation and that situation ended with a Deputy Sheriff and the Animal Control Officer showing up at this person's house to issue the citation. It would be best to speak to an experienced animal attorney to go over all your options and defenses and prevent any further charges from being added.
