Q: Can a landlord refuse to put you on a lease if your spouse has already been living there before you got married?
My wife is living in a place that has an application process and they are refusing me for 2 reasons one is from a preveous landlords report who was a slum lord and i got him removed from renting to people on housing due to that and the other is a misterminor that happened when i was like 18 or 19 and im now 31 and have nothing else on my record besides a few traffic tickets messed up part is the lease is only for the lot my wife actually owns the trailer were in... Thats suppose to be macomb, IL idk y its changed it to that town ...
A: I'm not aware of any law requiring a landlord to add you to an existing lease for the reasons you list.
