Q: Im caught up on back child support but now im having to pay the interest why,and who gets it state or ex spouse
Been paying support and back support been caught up on back a few months didn't know that they were taking out for the interest so my question is why and who gets it and what can I do about it
A: By state law, delinquent child support draws interest at 10%. If you login to your account with DHS, you will see the breakdown of each payment made and how applied to principal and interest.
A: Why: Interest attached by law. Who: most likely the custodial parent but only way to know for sure is to get a payment history and review your support order. Would be a really good idea to get an attorney to help you.
