A: Read the front and backside of the ticket.

Call the court and get instructions how to file a response.

Find out the date set for your hearing and don't miss that date.

Get a valid license. Or proof that you had a license at the time of the stop, if that is the case.

Get proper plates and be able to produce proof.

Hire a local attorney to go to court with you to negotiate the best deal possible. Get the attorney now, so you are not scrambling the last minute.

A: First: Consult with an attorney who handles traffic matters in your area.

Second, depending on what the attorney you have consulted with advises: Get a driver's license, or at least a permit.

Third, again, depending on what the attorney you have consulted with advises: Get the vehicle properly registered.

Do all this before the time of a Pre-trial. At your Arraignment, plead Not Guilty, or your attorney may be able to enter a Not Guilty plea for you and you would not have to go to court until your Pre-trial.

Sincerely, Frank B. Ford
