Q: Do I have grounds for a dismissal?
I was pulled over for no front plate (which isn't required by registered state). Was given a ticket for the no front LP and one for a suspended DL (did not realize one of my surcharges had lapsed). Seeing that technically the cop had no right to stop me, is that grounds for a dismissal on both tickets?
A: If you operate a vehicle on a Texas road, the vehicle must comply with Texas law. Accordingly, the fact no front plate is required by the State the car is registered in is not a defense.
