Arlington, TX asked in Criminal Law and Domestic Violence for Texas

Q: Hello, if I am married by common law in Texas and a police officer is messing with my man what can I do about it

Also she seen him hit me and doesn’t care she is fully aware that we live together and when I called the police on him for hitting me they didn’t do anything because she is a cop. But that is frowned upon isn’t it? Her seeing him hit me and not do anything also she was drunk at a party here in the county. I have videos of them being together at that party kissing and everything. What should I do

A: You may file an incident report with local law enforcement if you want to pursue criminal charges against your husband for assault. If you believe your husband is being unfaithful, you may suggest counseling if you wish to try to save your marriage; otherwise, contact a divorce attorney in your area. Good luck.
