Q: Hi, I parked in a handicapped spot at Target, like always, as I'm disabled, and used a disability placard on my mirror.
I got a ticket for an "expired disability placard" - apparently by years. I didn't know it was expired as it said "Permanent" on it. I have to go to court for this, and I think it's a $250 fine. I am disabled, and sent in a new application after I got the ticket (approved by my Dr), but haven't received the new one yet. Should I go to court and claim (the truth) that I didn't know it was expired?
A: Yes you should go to court to claim the truth as you probably have to go to court anyway as this is generally a mandatory court appearance ticket and the judge may just waive the fine.
