Corona, CA asked in Animal / Dog Law for California

Q: If my ex boyfriend bought me a dog and I have it licensed under my name, can he take it away?

He bought us a dog for our anniversary and paid for all of her shots, but I spend most of my time watching her, taking care of her, etc. The dog is licensed under my name only but he is on her medical records. Could he take her from me legally?

A: Possibly, it's unclear who the owner(s) is/are. If the dog was a gift to you, then it is your. If the dog was for both of you, then you share ownership.
