A: That's a REALLY good question. It happens all the time in NC.

Taylorsville is in Alexander County. The DA's Office responsible for prosecuting criminal cases in that part of the state is based in Iredell County / Statesville.

Obviously the factual scenario behind the wreck is important, especially as it may pertain to personal injuries. When a citation is issued for an "unsafe movement" or a more minor criminal charge or traffic infraction, there may be legal options available.

As defense lawyers, we would want to speak with the Insurance Carrier and see if there was coverage. With a "coverage letter" there could be the possibility of getting some relief from the citation, and possibly avoid even having to come to court.

Again, a LOT depends on the individual circumstances of the case. An experienced defense lawyer would also want to get information about the prior driving history, criminal charges, etc., before deciding the most appropriate manner in which to proceed.

Again, great question!
