Wixom, MI asked in Traffic Tickets for Michigan

Q: I got a speeding ticket in Indiana for 78/50. This was in Oct 2017. Can I fight for it now?

Michigan DMV did not allow me to do driver improvement program as I got ticket in Indiana. Indiana DMV did not allow as I have Michigan license.

A: If the ticket has been paid, you can’t do anything at this point because you have admitted responsibility for the violation. If a default judgment was entered because you never showed up to address the ticket, you may be able to file a motion to set aside the default judgment, which would allow you to fight the ticket. In Indiana, a default judgment must generally be filed within 1 year after the judgment and may only be set aside for specific reasons, such as newly discovered evidence, fraud or another compelling reason.
