Q: If there is no sign stating, "Left turn on green arrow only" is it legal to make a left turn on red after stopping?
(For clarification - the light is GREEN, the turn arrow/light is red.) My contention is that without that specific sign one should treat a red light (even one with a turn arrow) as a red light, i.e. come to a complete stop, signal, make sure the turn is clear, and proceed to turn. If it is not legal to turn left on a red light or red arrow what is the purpose of the sign stating "Left turn on green arrow only" only at certain intersections? Any citations to actual Texas code would be appreciated.
A: What you describe is illegal. A left turn on a red light is only permitted only if you are on a one way street turning left unto another one way street
