Covington, GA asked in Bankruptcy for Alabama

Q: I have loans Secured and unsecured Payday loans and a garnishment. I cannot afford the attorney fees. What do I do?

I would rather file for chapter 7 bankruptcy. Then chapter 13.

A: You need to have an experienced bankruptcy attorney look at your situation. If you have no assets or assets that do not need protecting, you should file a Chapter 7 and eliminate all your debt. If you have a home with some equity, you may have to file a 13.

A: At least get a consultation with a bankruptcy lawyer. If you still find you can afford to pay a lawyer they may be able to point you in the direction of some local resources so you don't have to try to represent yourself. At least do a search to see if there is a local Pro Se Assistance Project or if legal aid can offer you help.
