Q: I filed bankruptcy six years ago but I'm still struggling. How long do I have to wait before I can file again?

A: If it was a Chapter 7 you filed six years ago, then you can file a new one after the six year anniversary date.

A: It really depends on what chapter (7,11 or 13) you filed under. The timelines are different for each. For example, if you filed a Chapter 7, you have to wait 8 years to file another, but if you filed a Chapter 13, it is a different timeframe. Check with local counsel.
