Los Angeles, CA asked in Landlord - Tenant for California

Q: Was just served 30 day notice on a month to month. Only my wife signed it, not my dad & I. Can I get more than 30 days?

A: Who are the parties named in the lease as Tenants? If you are all named, then most likely service on one is service on all.

You need to check your lease to see what it says about lease termination and notice requirements. In California, tenants and landlords can agree to terms that are different from what is provided by statute.

This is really a business problem. If you are on good terms with the landlord and agree in writing to vacate by a date certain, then you may be able to negotiate a longer occupancy period to give you the extra time you need.
