Q: I'm a Danish citizen, my F-1 visa issued in London, UK, now up for renewal. Where and how do I renew?
I lived in London for 12 years prior to coming to the US, when the UK was still part of the EU. Post-Brexit, I am unsure about how to renew my F-1 visa to continue my phd in the US. The permanent address I provided for my visa application was a UK address, since that was my permanent home. Since I have been in the US during and after Brexit, I have not obtained indefinite right to remain in the UK (nor attempted to apply for it). Does this matter for visa renewing purposes? Can I even renew?
A: Submit your F-1 visa application to the US Embassy in London together with your supporting documents (I-20), proof that you can pay your tuition, room and board, etc.
A: Brexit is not a done deal, so really nothing has changed. Since London was your city of last residence, you can renew there. To be sure, check the website of the US embassy in London.
