Davenport, FL asked in Bankruptcy for Florida

Q: Is there anyway to declare bankruptcy without a lawyer? Is it possible for creditors to garnish my wages?

My wife is has quite a few mental health issues. She spent so much I’m literally left with 4.32$ in my account right now. I really need to know if it’s possible to declare bankrupcy on my own? She did not mean to do this! She has nothing to show for it! We have very little left, but we will lose the rest if I can’t figure things out.

A: Yes, you can file withoutca lawyer but it is not recommended. There are so many nuances and twists to the Code that you need an attorney’s expertise to navigate. Maybe hire one near you who will accept payments. Creditors can garnish your wages only after they file suit against you and get a judgment, not before.
