Q: Not having uninsured motorist ins., injured to necessity of surgeries. Can't the at fault drivers ins.co be sued?

Cannot get Drs to care for me as ins co. Said I have no more health coverage.??

A: Doctors, hospitals, etc. want to get paid for their services now. They generally don't wait for your claim/lawsuit against the other driver--which can last many months or even years--to conclude before they get paid. It is also a risk because if your claim is not successful for some reason, then the doctors may not get paid at all.

Accordingly, this is likely the issue. Your own Personal Injury Protection (PIP) coverage, which maxes out at $10K, may have run out. And the doctors' offices may not want to risk non-payment.

A: Do you have health insurance? First contact your own company--find out if your medical PIP coverage was used up. Second, run the bills through your health insurance. Contact a member of the Fla. Justice Assn--they give free consults.
